The Case That Does Not Add Up
Jamie has served nearly (15 yrs) for a crime he did not commit…He was accused of kidnapping and stabbing a white woman “Sadie Emery” in Brenham, Texas in 1995… shortly after he arrive in town to attend Blinn College on a Basketball Scholarship.
He was sentenced to Seventy (70 yrs) in prison.
Jamie was and still remains known in the home town of his birth, Jackson, Mississippi as a wonderful , morally upstanding and caring young man…He was once highly praised for his athletic ability and mannerly demeanor by all coaches that witnessed his talent, such praises resulted in him receiving several letters of solicitation to attend various schools.
Jamie’s story is one that will make a person shutter at the circumstance for which he found /finds himself today…Strange as the details may be to read, it has been even more devastating to Jamie’s mother Mary and sister Kristina. However, this strong “Christian family” have continued to hold fast to their faith belief and know that one day soon Jaime LaMonte’ Stewart will be set “free”.
These are some of the facts presented by the prosecution according to the Jamie Stewart Trial proceedings which were held in Brenham Texas…
1…DNA evidence found on the kidnapped victim, Sadie Emery “DID NOT” belong to Jamie Stewart…
2…Prosecution portrayed Jamie Stewart as a “gang member”.
3…Sadie Emery could not identify her attacker.
4…Sadie Emery’s Description of Attacker did not match that of Jamie Stewart.
5…The “Only Witness for the Prosecution” was a college campus security officer by the name of James Ira “Chuck” Thomas Jr. (Cousin to Kurtis Winters aka Big Kurt ). Officer Thomas Jr. swore under oath as a witness during the trial that he did not know the person Kurtis Winters.
6…Defense Attorney did not challenge the witness officer Thomas Jr’s sworn testimony, nor did she call a single witnesses to testify on behalf of Jamie Stewart.
7…Police Report indicates Jamie Stewart had driven the stolen van of Sadie Emery approx 214 miles from Brenham, on a Texas interstate highway to Lake Charles, Louisiana in less than two hours…when he was arrested.
8…Prosecution did not turn over critical information (that would have helped validate Jamie’s claim of innocence) to Jamie’s Defense Attorney until the penalty phase of the trial had begun…No Sanction was imposed upon the prosecution.
9…Defense Attorney did “NOT” call Jamie’s best college friend to testify on his behalf as to what she knew of Kurtis Winters violent nature.
10…Kurtis Winters is allegedly a known informant for the Brenham PD.
11…Kurtis Winters, wrote a letter to mother of Jamie Stewart stating details of occurrences during the assault of Sadie Emery when no such details were revealed during Jaime Stewart’s trial…nor to the media.
